Punjab Youth Festival District Level 3rd Day: Samanabad Town crowned Champion of Cricket Tape Ball

Lahore, January 31, 2014 (PPI-OT): The third day of Punjab Youth Festival district level competitions saw some close contests on Friday. In all, 7,332 participants demonstrated their skills in various games and 2,435 emerged victorious.

Samanabad Town was crowned champions when it defeated Ravi Town in the Cricket Tape Ball final played here at Iqbal Park Sports Complex. In the Hardball Matches, Ravi Town thrashed Gulberg Town while Allama Iqbal Town toppled Sports Board Punjab.In Volleyball championship, Ravi Town was the winner against Wahga Town while Khawar Ali lost the Taekwondo encounter against Akram Ali.

In Lahore Division, 1,461 players from Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts appeared in the PYF events and 562 returned as winners. As many as 865 athletes from Chakwal, Attock and Jhelum districts of Rawalpindi Division featured in several events, out of which 210 were declared triumphant. A large number of athletes featured in the PYF events in Sargodha Division. Some 1403 players from Bhakkar, Khushab and Mianwali districts participated in different contests and 506 returned successful. In Gujranwala Division, 372 contestants from Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mand Bahauddin, Gujrat and Narowal districts exhibited their potential in various games but 155 met with success. As many as 315 players featured in the PYF events in Faisalabad Division.

The competitions were held in Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot districts where 111 remained successful. In Okara and Pakpattan districts of Sahiwal Division, 260 athletes showed their skills in different PYF events out of whom, 100 were adjudged as victorious. In Multan Division, 558 players from Vehari, Lodhran and Khanewal districts participated in PYF activities and 216 scripted victories in their respective events.

The Bahawalnagar and Rahimyar Khan districts of Bahawalpur Division saw some 721 players in action where 312 were declared triumphant. The Dera Ghazi Khan Division remained quite busy in PYF events. Where as many as 1,386 athletes demonstrated their potential in a variety of sporting events and among them, 263 returned home successful.
