Quds and Kashmir Day observed in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, August 02 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Juma-tul-Wida, today, was observed as the Day of Quds and Kashmir to impress upon the international community to come forward in a big way to help the people of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir secure their inalienable right to self-determination. Call for the observance of the Day was given by the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Maulana Abbas Ansari led mammoth demonstrations in Srinagar and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in Badgam. Resolutions supporting the right to self-determination of the people of Kashmir and Palestine were passed in almost all mosques of the territory.

The resolutions urged the international community to address the disputes in the interest of peace in the world. The protesters at Abi Guzar, Lal Chowk, Nowhatta, Sadrabal, Rainawari, Rajouri Kadal, Chattabakl and other areas set on fire the Israeli flag.

The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, led a big cavalcade from Maisuma area of Srinagar to Charar-e-Sharif. Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, he called upon the world community to break their silence over lingering Kashmir dispute and come forth for its settlement.

APHC leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt, Javed Ahmad Mir and the JKLF-R Chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar, led anti-India demonstrations in Kulgam and Badgam. High-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans were raised on the occasion. Addressing the protesters, the leaders paid glowing tributes to the martyrs, illegally detained leaders and youth and those subjected to enforced disappearances by the Indian troops over the last two decades.

The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, remained under house arrest and were not allowed to offer Juma prayers. Indian police arrested APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, in Islamabad and lodged him at Sher Bagh Police station in the town.

Hurriyet leaders, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Ghulam Ahmad Paray, in their statements and addresses said that permanent peace in South Asia was impossible without settling the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

On the other hand, Indian troops in their continued act of state terrorism martyred another Kashmiri youth at Tangdhar in Kupwra.

In Islamabad, the APHC-AJK chapter at a meeting chaired by its Convenor, Syed Yousuf Naseem, offered special prayers for the early liberation of Palestine and Kashmir and peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
