Railways to Modernize Stations Between Lahore and Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Railways, in collaboration with the Punjab government, will upgrade all train stations from Lahore to Rawalpindi to meet international standards.

According to Radio Pakistan, the decision was made during a meeting of Pakistan Railways held in Rawalpindi today, chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi. Punjab senior minister Maryam Aurangzeb represented the Punjab government in the meeting.

The meeting focused on upgrading the Lahore-Islamabad high-speed train service and six train routes within Punjab. Discussions included detailed plans to reduce the travel time of the Lahore-Islamabad train from four hours to less than three hours.

As part of the modernization plan, the Kalula-Pandora section will undergo restructuring, and the track will be dualized. This upgrade aims to enhance the track’s capacity to accommodate 120 trains in each direction.

Additionally, the meeting resolved to undertake other necessary measures, such as reconstructing all bridges and remodeling station yards, to support the modernization efforts.
