Rich tributes paid to 2010 martyrs

Srinagar, June 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has paid glowing tributes to the 125 youth including Tufail Ahmad Mattoo and Wamiq Farooq, who were killed by Indian armed forces and police during the 2010 uprising.

An APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said, “Such priceless sacrifices would neither be allowed to go waste nor would these be forgotten. For, these represent a significant part of the blood-soaked Kashmir history for freedom and dignity,”

“It is highly shocking that the killers of these innocent souls were roaming free. Justice still awaits the martyred youth majority of whom are just teenagers,” he said.

“Kashmiris have offered innumerable sacrifices of their life and property since 1947 to press for the demand of right to self determination. The Kashmiris would take their mission forward till it reaches its logical conclusion,” the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, an APHC delegation led by Hakim Abdul Rashid today visited the houses martyrs, Altaf Baba and Abbas Ahangar Nengroo and expressed sympathies with their families.

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza also paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Tufail Mattoo on his martyrdom anniversary.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that Kashmiri martyrs centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at the international level. He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, against all odds.

“Right from 1947, India has been trying to suppress the voice of Kashmiris by force. But neither they succeeded in the past, nor would they in future,” he added.

He also eulogized the sacrifices of Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq and other Kashmiri martyrs for the Kashmir cause.
