Richard Olson lays floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid

Islamabad, December 10, 2012 (PPI-OT): U.S. Ambassador Richard Olson laid a wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid and visited renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi today. Upon laying the wreath, Ambassador Olson quoted Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who said in August 1947, “Our object should be peace within, and peace without.

We want to live peacefully and maintain cordial friendly relations with our immediate neighbors and with the world at large.” “These words reflect the common aspirations that Pakistanis and Americans still have – to live in peace and security, and to pursue economic opportunity,” said Ambassador Olson.

After meeting Abdul Sattar Edhi, Ambassador Olson said, “I have just enjoyed a conversation with Edhi Saab and was touched by his humility. His commitment to helping women and girls, providing care for orphans, and assisting the less fortunate demonstrates an understanding of human dignity. He helps them learn practical skills so they can support themselves. The United States shares these values, and we can all learn and benefit from Mr. Edhi’s example.”
