Right to education is the right of every human being regardless of his/her gender and class: Minister of State Barrister Usman Ibrahim

Islamabad, August 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): Minister of State Barrister Usman Ibrahim met the project Director of Establishment of Federal Government College of Home Economics, Management Sciences and Specialized Discipline, F-11/1, Islamabad at Capital Administration and Development Division today.

Right to education is the right of every human being regardless of his/her gender and class, said the Minister of State. He showed keen interest in the project and said that the female education is the utmost priority of this government. He further added that Prime Minister is taking every possible measure and initiative to improve female education in the country and he is very much interested in this extraordinary project. This institution has various specialized disciplines to train women in technical and professional fields, which is the need of the hour.

Minister of State discussed the PC I of the project with the project Director Ms Kauser Beig. This project has been approved in November last year and the total estimated cost of the project is more than Rs. 3 billion; Rs. 500 million will be funded by the Government of Pakistan/PSDP. Rs. 200 million would be provided in year 2014-2015. And the rest of the funding would be done through the foreign funding, for that a request has been made to the Economic Affairs Division.

The curriculum for BS, MS and PhD programs is designed by the HEC. Minister of State admired the initiative of giving 100 scholarships for MS/PhD from International Universities in various fields of Home Economics. He further added that more than 3000 underprivileged female students would receive professional and technical training for women empowerment. And round about 3000 other female students would acquire diplomas and certificates in various fields of home economics.

There would be 5 academic blocks; each block would contain labs, library, lecture halls, seminar room, and research centers etc. Specialized disciplines would include Art and Design Department, Architecture, Food and Nutrition, Interior and Environmental Design Department and Public Health Department etc.

In the end State Minister made sure that this project should be completed as soon as possible and gave directives to the concerned officials to expedite the process.
