Srinagar, May 15, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has criticized India for not allowing the International Committee of Red Cross, Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to visit the Indian jails to observe for themselves the pathetic condition of Kashmiri political prisoners.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar asked India to shun its stubbornness and appealed to two nuclear countries, Pakistan and India, to turn a new leaf in their bilateral relations to sit together along with the people of Kashmir and resolve Kashmir issue peacefully in accordance with the wishe and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Lamenting on the plight of Kashmiri prisoners at the hands of barbaric jail authorities in IOK, APHC chairman demanded early release of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in jails. He hailed the release of Indian and Pakistani prisoners from their respective jails saying that the mutual well wishing in the holy month of Ramadan should be a permanent feature in the bilateral relations of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Shia-Suni Coordination Committee at a meeting in Srinagar while demanding a thorough probe into the rape of minor girl in Bandipora appealed to the people to end protests. Itehadul Muslimeen Chief, Masroor Abbas while divulging the details of the meeting told media that the participants put forth suggestions for promotion of unity and brotherhood and to thwart efforts aimed at triggering a sectarian frenzy.
The authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Magam and Badgam towns to prevent protests against the rape incident. Internet service continued to remain suspended in Badgam district for the fourth consecutive day, today.
An APHC delegation comprising Bilal Ahmad Sidqui, Molvi Bashir, Ghulam Mohammad Nagoo, Peer Mohammad Shafi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Arhad Ahmad Butt, Zamrooda Habib and Yasmeen Raja visited Trehgam, Sumbal and conveyed Syed Ali Gilani’s deep sympathies to the parents of the victim girl.
Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar condemned the directive of the Indian government-run All India Council for Technical Education asking students from the occupied territory not to take admission in educational institutes of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The statement said such directions negate the basic principle of SAARC cooperation. The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in statement issued in Srinagar, strongly condemned the Indian government’s decision.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter at a meeting in Islamabad said that Indian forces were carrying out genocide of the Kashmiri people in planned and sustained manner.
