Rigorous punishment for arranging child marriage – Training workshop to restrain child marriages

Karachi, May 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): Women Development Department Government of Sindh has organized Training Workshop on Child Marriage Restraint Act specially for Government Officers, Police Officers, lawyers and NGOs to give awareness about the Act and its effectively implementation on Thursday, May 14 from 11 am to 1 pm at Committee Room Deputy Commissioner Sukkur.

The SHOs/ASIs and officers of concerned government departments will also attend the same.

The Secretary Women Development Department Mr. Abdul Rasheed Solangi will inaugurate the Training Workshop.

The Women Development Department has so far arranged training workshops for creating awareness as well as ensure effectively implementation in letter and spirit of Child Marriage Restraint Act in six districts i.e. Hyderabad, Karachi, Jamshoro, Mithi, Thatta and Sujawal so that society could be benefitted.

As per Act, whoever performs, conducts, directs, brings about or in any way facilitates any child marriage shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment which may extend to three years but shall not be less than two years and shall also be liable to fine.
