Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday about a comprehensive campaign initiated in the Federal Capital Territory aimed at enrolling out-of-school children into educational institutions.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister of State for Education, Wajiha Qamar, addressed a calling attention notice, highlighting the federal government’s collaborative efforts with provincial governments to tackle this pressing issue. The plan encompasses an accelerated learning program and a shift towards technical education, introducing middle-tech, matric-tech, and inter-tech programs to boost student retention rates in educational settings. Furthermore, an education voucher initiative has commenced to offer financial aid to children from economically disadvantaged families.
In other developments, the National Assembly passed a resolution applauding the remarkable accomplishment of Pakistani adventure athlete Samar Khan. She was recognized for her successful summit of Mount Elbrus and subsequent snowboarding descent. Moved by Sehar Kamran, the resolution celebrated Khan’s ongoing contributions to adventure sports, including her feats as the first woman globally to cycle across the Biafo and Godwin Austen Glaciers and the first Pakistani to cycle on Mount Kilimanjaro. Her achievements were praised for demonstrating exceptional courage, resilience, and determination, bringing international recognition to Pakistan and inspiring young women nationwide.
Additionally, the Polio Eradication and Rehabilitation Bill was introduced in the House by Syed Waseem Hussain. The assembly also passed the Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers) Bill, 2026, and The Anti-Rape Investigation and Trial Amendment Bill, 2025. The next session of the House is scheduled for tomorrow at eleven am.
