Sales tax collection declines in December 2012 – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi, January 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revealed that sales tax collection remained lower by 3.39% at PKR 68.197 billion in December 2012 as against PKR 70.586 billion in same period last fiscal year, as reported in the local newspaper.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, however, Federal Excise Duty (FED) collection inched up by 2.05% stood at PKR 8.795 billion in Dec 2012 as compared to PKR 8.618 billion last year. Lower sales tax collection reflects decline in overall sales or weak economic activity in the country during the month.
