Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan facilitates attendance at hearings through video conferencing link

Karachi, May 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is facilitating attendance of regulatees at hearings before adjudicating officers scheduled at Head Office Islamabad, through video link facilities at the nearest concerned Company Registration Office (CRO ).

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) is exercising adjudication powers, under various laws administered by it, which involve providing opportunity of personal hearing to the respondents. Historically, hearings in most of the cases have usually been fixed at SECP head office in Islamabad.

While this practice was beneficial for the Commission, a large number of requests for fixation of hearings in other cities, where the respondents are based, were also received which could not always be accommodated on financial grounds. By allowing hearings through video conference facility at concerned Company Registration Offices linked to the SECP Head Office, regulatees will not have to incur travelling costs while pursuing their cases before the Commission. This is one more example of SECP continuing to facilitate regulatees and developing Pakistan’s capital markets through effective use of technology.
