Security Forces Escalate Counter-Terrorism Efforts, Says Minister

Islamabad: Security forces in Pakistan are intensifying counter-terrorism operations with a focus on intelligence-based strategies to neutralize threats, the National Assembly was informed today.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif highlighted during a session of the House that Pakistan is actively combating terrorist organizations originating from Afghanistan, including Fitnah-al-Khwarij and Daesh.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar made it clear that although the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) does not pre-censor television content, it is incumbent upon broadcasters to follow the established code of conduct.

Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar announced plans to deploy a technology-based system for efficient solid waste management in the federal capital, emphasizing the Capital Development Authority’s commitment to this project.

Responding to a notice on human trafficking, Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar detailed that under the Prime Minister’s directives, significant actions have been taken, resulting in 1,638 arrests and 458 convictions over the past year. Additionally, measures have been taken against Federal Investigation Agency officials found colluding with traffickers.

The National Assembly also passed the National Commission on the Status of Women Amendment Bill, 2024. The bill was introduced by Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.
