Sham polls cannot affect disputed nature of Kashmir: JKPM

Jammu, January 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), has said that sham elections in the territory cannot affect disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.APHC leader and the Senior Vice Chairman of JKPM, Mir Shahid Saleem, addressing party meeting in Jammu said that the false elections were not an alternative to right to self-determination guaranteed to the people of Kashmir by the world community through several resolutions passed by the United Nations.

He said that the pro-India political parties in Kashmir had once again started talking about the political and human rights of Kashmiris to reach to the corridors of power but once they assume power they become deaf and dumb to the sufferings and pain of the common people subjected to the worst kinds of oppression and suppression by the occupation forces.

The APHC leader said that the sham exercise stage managed by India with the help of its seven hundred thousand troop in the territory had already been rejected by the UN resolutions as an alternative to the right to self-determination.

Mir Shahid Saleem said that the people of the Jammu and Kashmir had been offering unprecedented sacrifices to achieve their birthright to self-determination. He said that India was using its military might and committing the worst kinds of human rights violations on the innocent people of Kashmir but despite that it miserably failed to break their resolve and commitment.

The party General Secretary, Muhammad Shafi, Abdul Hameed Khan, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Muhammad Shafi Rafiqui also addressed the meeting.
