Sham polls in IOK aimed at diluting Kashmir dispute: Tramboo

Srinagar, April 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Patron of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, while maintaining that sham polls in occupied Kashmir are aimed at diluting the Kashmir dispute has appealed to the Kashmiri people to stay away from the so-called elections.

Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the farcical elections were aimed at misleading the world about the Kashmir dispute by showing that everything was normal in the territory. He pointed out that India was using these elections to show to the world that the Kashmiris were happy with the Indian rule in the territory, however, the situation was entirely different.

“It is our duty to safeguard the sacrifices offered by the martyrs and to work for their mission of achieving freedom from India’s forcible occupation. Elections can never be the substitute of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We appeal to the people to stay away from the election process,” he added.

Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo also appreciated the people of Shopian, who gave a befitting response to the pro-India parties and showed that for them nothing was precious than the sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs. The people of Shopian observed complete shutdown and staged demonstrations the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s visit to the area.

The JKLF-R Chief Patron paid glowing tributes to the youth, who were recently martyred by Indian troops in Pulwama and Srinagar areas. He also expressed concern over the continued illegal detention of pro-freedom leaders including Mushtaq-ul-Islam.
