Sindh Chief Minister and EU Ambassador Discuss Solar Energy and School Rebuilding Projects

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with European Union Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka to discuss new initiatives for flood recovery, focusing on the reconstruction of damaged schools and the distribution of solar panels to off-grid communities. According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting explored two critical projects: rebuilding school facilities devastated by the 2022 floods and implementing a two-phased solar panel distribution program. The first phase of the solar project will target residents living off-grid, with a subsequent phase to assist additional needy populations. During the meeting, which included attendees such as Mr. Christian Raitz from the EU, Chairman P and D Najam Shah, and Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, Chief Minister Shah highlighted the extensive damage caused by the floods, noting that 20,000 of the province’s 40,000 school buildings were affected. This destruction has significantly hindered educational services, prompting the Chief Minister to seek international donor sup

The meeting also addressed the commitment of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to fulfill his election promise of providing solar panels to those in need, a pledge supported by the Ambassador.
