Solidarity with illegal detainees on Friday

Srinagar, June 13, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has demanded release of all illegally- detained Hurriyet leaders and activists including Masarrat Aalam Butt before Eid so that they could celebrate the Muslim festival with their families.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, called for observing the coming Friday as day of solidarity with illegally detained Kashmiris. He maintained that the continued detention of Masarrat Aalam Butt and other Hurriyet leaders was indicative of the fact that local administration was just a puppet and all decisions were made by the Home Ministry of India. He also expressed wonder over silence of judiciary on the illegal detention of Masarrat Aalam Butt. The APHC Chairman urged international human rights organizations to take cognizance of inhuman treatment meted out to Kashmiri political detainees in jails.

The APHC Secretary General, Shabbir Ahmad Shah while talking to a Sikh delegation from Punjab and Kashmir, who called on him in Srinagar, today, said that the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle was not specific for any particular community, but it was meant for securing the right to self determination of all communities in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation was led by the International Sikh Federation President, Paramjeet Singh Khalsa.

The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq speaking to a delegation of Pandits at his residence in Srinagar, said that the Pandits were part of the Kashmir society and the people were in favor of dignified return to their houses.
