Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has called for adopting such measures which can meet agricultural needs of the country besides creating job opportunities.
He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting, which discussed issues pertaining to the current water crisis, agriculture and farming in Islamabad on Monday.
Asad Qaiser said Pakistan is an agricultural country whereas production of any agricultural country depends upon ample quantity of water.
He said Pakistan is among the countries which are not only self-sufficient in agriculture commodities, but also export these to other countries.
In view of water crisis, Speaker National Assembly stressed the need building small canals and lay pipelines to irrigate nearby water starved areas.
