Standing Committee on Housing and Works meets

Islamabad, March 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Standing Committee on Housing and Works directed the Ministry to take up the matter regarding lifting of ban on construction of new Government Residential Accommodations for the Federal Government Employees with the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Standing Committee held its 3rd meeting today in the Parliament House Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Engr. Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, MNA and took briefings on the working of Ministry of Housing and Woks, Estate Office, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation and Naya Pakistan Program, respectively.

During the course of deliberations, the Committee noted that the gap between the available Government Owned Residential Accommodations the required ones for the Federal Government Employees on General Waiting List and directed the Ministry to take up the matter regarding uplifting of ban on construction of new Government Owned Residential Accommodations for the Federal Government Employed with the Prime Minister’s Office in order to bridge the said gap.

The Committee also directed the Ministry to provide Forensic Report on the incident happened at Qasr-e-Naz, Karachi, with a family belonging to Quetta, to it for perusal. The Committee directed the Secretary, Housing and Works, to look into the issue regarding evacuation of Government Servants from the Gulshan-e-Jinnah, Federal Lodges, Islamabad, etc., and find some doable solution thereupon. The Committee also took briefing from the Chairman Task Force, Naya Pakistan Housing Program regarding the program. The said Chairman held that the said project will help providing shelter to low income families.

Besides, the Minister for Housing and Works, the meeting was also attended by MNAs Malik Anwar Taj, Malik Karamat AliKhokhar, Ms. Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Ms. Wajiha Akram, Mr. Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Chaudhry Abid Raza, Syed Iftikhar Ul Hassan, Mr. Azhar Qayyum Nahra, Ms. Tahira Aurangzeb, Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Mr. Abid Hussain Bhayo, Syed Agha Rafiullah and Mr. Munir Khan Orakzai. The senior officers of the Ministry of Housing and Works, Estate Office, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation, Pakistan Public Works Department and Chairman Task Force, Naya Pakistan Housing Program were also present in the meeting.
