Punjab Police Implement Extensive Security Measures for Multan By-Elections

Multan, In a comprehensive effort to secure the by-elections in Constituency NA 148, Multan, the Punjab Police, under the guidance of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, deployed robust security measures. These efforts ensured that more than 444,000 voters could exercise their rights in a peaceful environment.

According to Punjab Police, the security strategy for the elections involved declaring 69 out of 275 polling stations as highly sensitive, yet thorough preparations led to a smooth voting process without incident. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reported that 4,000 officers, including women and members of specialized forces like the Dolphin Force and Quick Response teams, were deployed especially at these sensitive locations to prevent any disruption.

The police force’s high alert status and increased presence across the province, including Multan, were part of a broader security operation that included cooperation with allied departments, security agencies, and the armed forces. Senior officers directly supervised the arrangements to ensure a transparent and secure election day. Continuous monitoring from regional and divisional control rooms supported these efforts, alongside strict enforcement of the Election Commission’s code of conduct, which included addressing any incidents of law violation such as aerial firing or election sabotage.

IG Punjab emphasized the proactive approach in monitoring and deterring anti-social elements to maintain the integrity of the electoral process. Close coordination among police, security agencies, the armed forces, and district administration played a crucial role in the operational success, ensuring safety and order until the polling concluded.
