State Bank issues clarification for perishable goods exports

Karachi, May 06, 2014 (PPI-OT): The State Bank of Pakistan has issued a clarification with respect to facilitation available for export of fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, poultry and other goods of perishable nature from Pakistan.

In this respect, it is clarified that the condition of Advance Payment or Irrevocable Letters of Credit for the purposes of export is applicable on the commodities specifically mentioned in the Export Policy Order issued by the Ministry of Commerce.

In case of export of other commodities not so specified in the Exp ort Policy Order, whether perishable or otherwise, all other permissible modes of exports can also be adopted according to related rules and regulations.

It has been further clarified that it is not necessary to issue documents of title to the order of a bank in Pakistan or to the order of a bank in the country of import for the exports of fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, poultry and other goods of perishable nature. However, the exporter’s bank will confirm the status of shipment through customs records.
