Strengthening Ties: Pakistan and Bangladesh Advance Regional Cooperation

Islamabad: MD Jashim Uddin has praised the governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh for their efforts to strengthen bilateral relations through initiatives like easing visa regulations and launching direct flights. He expressed gratitude to the Honorable Minister of Commerce Government of Pakistan, Jam Kamal Khan, for promptly opening Dhaka-Karachi flights.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Mr. Jashim Uddin expressed optimism that these efforts will continue, promoting unity and shared prosperity in the region. He noted that improved relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh could lead to increased trade, cultural exchange, and investment opportunities, ultimately enhancing economic and social integration across South Asia. Recently, Mr. Jashim Uddin led a delegation of South Asian business leaders to Pakistan, advocating for open visa regimes to boost connectivity.

Mr. Jashim Uddin also commended Pakistan’s support for the SAARC CCI HQ Building in Islamabad. A business delegation from Pakistan, led by Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, recently visited Bangladesh to explore commercial collaboration opportunities. Mr. Jashim Uddin highlighted that SAARC CCI’s efforts are now yielding positive results, fostering greater regional integration and economic collaboration.

Airlines from both countries have launched direct flights, improving travel time and facilitating more frequent business interactions. Negotiations are underway for a passenger ferry service and direct sea routes to further enhance regional cooperation. Mr. Jashim Uddin emphasized the importance of revitalizing SAARC to boost regional trade and cooperation.

To further these gains, Mr. Jashim Uddin announced the South Asian Business Leaders Conclave, scheduled for May 2025 in Dhaka, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and political figures to explore cooperation and strategize regional development. Mian Anjum Nisar, Vice President of SAARC CCI Pakistan, emphasized the transformative potential of enhanced regional connectivity.

The recent progress in Bangladesh-Pakistan economic collaboration has been well-received by the South Asian business community. Leaders such as Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mian Anjum Nisar, and Atif Ikram Sheikh have commended these initiatives, which they believe will strengthen economic ties and foster regional prosperity.
