Sub-Committee of Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development meets

Islamabad, January 06, 2020 (PPI-OT): Sub-Committee of Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development in its meeting was given briefing on the issue of vacation of the land of Mehran Town in Karachi from illegal occupants and its further allotment to the overseas Pakistanis. The meeting was held with Senator Nighat Mirza as its convener and was attended among others by Senators Samina Saeed, Mirza Muhammad Afridi, and senior officials from the ministry, Overseas Pakistani Foundation, KDA, Pakistan Rangers.

The Committee was not satisfied with the briefing and the work done so far to get rid of the encroachments in the area which was meant to provide residence for overseas Pakistanis. The Committee directed Karachi Development Authority to complete their survey of the area and come up with detailed report and presentation along with list of all allotees, money paid, area encroached and a way forward to tackle the situation within 15 days. The Committee also directed to advertise and warn people against buying land from dubious land agents.
