Supreme Court Disposed Of 352 Cases In A Week

Islamabad, June 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 352 cases whereas 337 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 08th June 2013 to Friday 14th June 2013. The backlog remains 19168.

The backlog in the apex Court on 08th June 2013 was 19183 cases. As 337 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 08th June 2013 to Friday 14th June 2013, the progressive total of pending cases on 14th June 2013 came to 19520 cases. Out of these, 352 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 10th June 2013 to Friday 14th June 2013. The backlog on 14th June 2013 remains 19168 cases.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad , Branch Registry Lahore and Quetta to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court remained committed to accelerate disposal of the cases and diminish the backlog. The Hon’ble Judges continued to hear the cases with the aim to minimize the backlog and provide relief to the litigants.
