Swedish delegation accorded warm welcome at Islamabad

Islamabad, May 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): A twenty member Swedish delegation comprising parliamentarians and leading businessmen led by Speaker of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) Mr. Per Westerberg arrived at Nur Khan Airbase, Islamabad today. The delegation is on a three days official visit to Pakistan.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi along with Convener of Pak-Swedish Parliamentary Friendship Group Muhammad Khan Daha and senior officials of the National Assembly Secretariat received the delegation.

While welcoming the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Deputy Speaker said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to Sweden and wants to take the existing warm relations between the two countries to new heights through parliamentary and economic cooperation. He also suggested for exploring other avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Mr. Per Westerberg said that his country also attaches great significance to Pakistan and would extend its all-out support to Pakistan for overcoming its prevalent challenges. He expressed his country’s desire to utilize huge economic and human resource potential in Pakistan for mutual benefit.
