Union of Small and Medium Enterprises felicitates Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority ‘s new provincial chief

Karachi, January 25, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) welcomed the appointment of Mukesh Kumar as the new provincial chief (PC) of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and felicitated him on his well deserved promotion.

Mukesh Kumar brings with him rich experience of several years as a dedicated and focused officer of SMEDA who has risen from the ranks and worked in Karachi, Lahore and other branches of SMEDA since its inception.

Mukesh is highly educated and has traveled to many countries and has worked very closely with United Nations Development Organizations on several projects and by virtue of his deputations has worked jointly with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) as well.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver assured him full support and expressed desire to jointly work for the betterment of the Micro and the SME sector (MSME) on fast track basis especially for agrobased industries.

There is urgent need for modernization and product up gradation to meet the challenges. Another important step is educating the sector for value addition Thaver emphasized.

He expressed confidence that the new PC SMEDA would give priority to the requirements of the SMEs of Sindh and work wholeheartedly for their uplift with his team in Sindh SMEDA brances.

On this occasion he thanked the outgoing PC Muslim Raza Rawjani who has been with SMEDA since its inception and did outstanding work for Sindh and thanked him for his remarkable endeavours for the SMEs. He wished him well and great success in his new ventures. The Union declared him as a patron of SMEs for his services for the sector and requested him to keep advising UNISAME to serve the sector scientifically. UNISAME would miss him at SMEDA but nevertheless being our patron we will keep very close contact with him Thaver said.

Thaver urged the government to give SMEDA the attention it deserves and take interest in the sector and give priority to the sector and implement the SME Policy in letter and spirit.

It is very important for SMEDA to have a representative of UNISAME as a consultant to give inputs on SME promotion and development scientifically on modern lines and also valuable feedback on the issues of the MSME on a regular basis.
