United Business Group formed to revive lost glory of apex Chamber of Commerce: Ilyas Ahmed Bilour

Karachi, December 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): Former President of FPCCI Senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour on Thursday said United Business Group has been formed to revive the lost glory of the Apex Chamber of Commerce. Business community is looking forward for transformation of FPCCI which is infested with mismanagement, corruption and nepotism since decades, he said.

Senator Bilour said this while talking to UBG Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik, UBG’s presidential candidate Mian Idrees and President Haripur Chamber Atif Ikram Sheikh who is also central chairman of PVMA. He said that dictatorship must end in the FPCCI so that it can play due role in national development rather than serving a group dominating it since decades.

The veteran business leader said that billions of rupees have been embezzled in the institution over decades while nothing can move there without approval of Tariq Sayeed therefore he must accept responsibility.

Bilour admitted massive corruption in construction of FPCCI Islamabad Building but hold Tariq Sayeed and his aides responsible for it saying that arrest of contractor, architect and consultant would reveal the truth.

How can they blame someone who continue to spend millions on social service since last forty years, he questioned. He said that business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata would fully back UBG in the upcoming FPCCI elections to cleanse the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that we will not exploit business community and take decisions on merit for the promotion of trade. He said that only true democracy will prevail in trade politics and such people would be given responsibilities that can contribute to image building of FPCCI and resolve issues of the business community.

Presidential candidate for FPCCI Mian Idrees said that no one will be allowed to hijack FPCCI; we will remove elements involved in corruption, nepotism and unfair practices. We will try best to address the genuine problems being confronted by the business community across country and live up to the aspiration of the business community, he said. He claimed that majority want an operation clean-up in the FPCCI for which vote is the best weapon.
