Uzbek Ambassador calls on Foreign Minister

Islamabad, January 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Parviz Mirievich Aliev called on H.E. Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Foreign Minister of Pakistan today. Welcoming the new Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan, the Foreign Minister said that Pakistan was keen to deepen its relations with all the Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan. She fondly recalled her visit to Tashkent and meeting with Uzbek President.

The Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction at the state of relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan but remarked that current level was much below its potential. The Foreign Minister and the Ambassador exchanged views on importance of regional stability, peace and security.

The Uzbek Ambassador informed that more than 4000 Pakistani tourists visited Uzbekistan last year, and the Uzbek Air will soon start a flight on Islamabad-Tashkent sector also. Ambassador Aliev informed that he would concentrate his efforts on the Joint Ministerial Commission and signing of Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement among Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
