WB Pledges Support for Pakistan’s Hydropower Projects

Lahore: World Bank’s Country Director for Pakistan, Ms. Bolormaa Amgabbazar, called on Chairman WAPDA Muhammad Saeed to review financial matters of the Dasu and Tarbela 5th Extension hydropower projects. During the meeting, Chairman WAPDA emphasized that both projects are crucial for ensuring affordable and clean electricity, which is vital for the socio-economic development of the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ms. Amgabbazar reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to providing continued financial support for WAPDA’s hydropower portfolio. The World Bank is extending financial assistance worth $1,517 million for the under-construction Stage-I of the Dasu Hydropower Project and $390 million for the Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project.
