Bhopal, June 03, 2023 (PPI-OT): In the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Hindu extremists accused a school administration of forcing Hindu girls to wear hijab to incite Hindu-Muslim riots, to which the Hindu students said they wear headscarves voluntarily. Hindu extremists in the Damoh district of the state accused the Ganga Jamna school administration of forcing non-Muslim female students to wear hijab and tried to spoil the environment in the area.
They said Hindu extremists have spread venom and propaganda against Muslims but Hindu extremists got a major shock when parents of non-Muslim students came forward and defended their daughters wearing headscarves. Non-Muslim students wear headscarves voluntarily and the school administration never forced them, they said, adding the sectarian Hindus made a lot of noise in this regard and tried to spread lies, but they failed in their aim.
The school administration while talking to the journalists said since the beginning, the school’s dress code includes the scarf, but no one was ever pressured and the students come to school wearing the scarf of their own free will, while their parents also have no objection.
Shiv Dayal Dubey, a non-Muslim member of the school administration, rejected the allegation of extremist Hindu organizations and said female students wear headscarves voluntarily. He said the scarf protects the female students. The mother of a non-Muslim student said her daughter goes to school wearing a scarf of her own accord and they have no objection. She said no particular religion is being taught in the school.
The school administration asked the sectarian organizations to stop spreading hatred in the name of religion. Director of the school Muhammad Idrees Khan said this is the dress of his school. It is not based on religion but this kind of dress is kept for the safety of female students. He said it is not a hijab but a scarf that is worn on the head.
