Karachi: Thirty five buried bodies have gone missing from graveyard in Gadap Town. Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has taken notice of the incident.
According to media reports, a mysterious incident has been reported at a graveyard in Gadap Town, where at least 35 buried bodies were found to be missing from the graves.
Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has tasked the authorities with an immediate report regarding rampant incidents of grave robbing in Karachi.
Police suspect the grave robbers have exhumed the bodies to either sell the remains or indulge in necrophagia (consuming dead flesh), or perpetrate necrophilism or do something even worse to the corpses in different stages of decay.
The Governor ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident, which came close on the heels of a notorious case where a man was arrested recently in Karachi for digging up graves and defiling bodies of around 25 women.
Around 40 graves, mostly of children, were found dug up and had body parts missing from them prompted Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad to order a high-level inquiry into the incident.
The graves from where the body parts were stolen were situated in Gadap town and Sohrab Goth area. The incident came to light when people went to the graveyards to pray for their deceased on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Monday.
