Aabpara Traders protest against Capital Development Authority’s anti-business measures

Islamabad, November 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the Traders Welfare Association, Aabpara Market, Islamabad was held under the chair of its Senior Vice President Akhtar Abbasi and passed a resolution appealing to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawas Sharif for urgent transfer of Chairman and Director Municipal Administration, Capital Development Authority from the civic body. The meeting passed another resolution demanding for withdrawal of imposition of parking fee in markets.

Addressing the meeting, Akhtar Abbasi, Senior Vice President and Shafique Abbasi, General Secretary, Traders Welfare Association, Aabpara Market said that Islamabad is a city of educated persons who are regular taxpayers, but some imported officers of CDA are conspiring to rupture the relations between the local traders and the government by taking anti-business measures and are creating law and order problems in the city.

They vowed that traders would never allow disturbing the peace of the federal capital and appealed to the government to immediately change Chairman and Director Municipal Administration of CDA before the situation in Islamabad takes an ugly turn like that of Raja Bazar. They said if parking fee in markets was not withdrawn by 26th November 2013, Islamabad would witness complete shutter down and traders would reach CDA office to make a strong protest.

They said at the time of auction of commercial plots, CDA had given no indication of levying parking fee. If CDA is determined to impose parking fee, it should first provide parking facilities in all markets by constructing parking plazas as well as get the approval of parking fee from the National Assembly.

The traders also called for withdrawal of unilateral increase in trade license fee. The meeting expressed condolence over the sad demise of the mother of market union President Muhammad Younas Qureshi. They prayed that Allah the Almighty may keep the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
