Lahore, In a significant development for sports governance in the country, Additional IG (retd) Abid Qadri has been elected President of the Pakistan Olympic Association. Following his election, Qadri made an official visit to the Association’s office to assume his new role.
According to Punjab Police, during the visit, Director General Pakistan Police Sports Board and Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara, along with Chief Sports Officer DIG Athar Ismail, extended their congratulations to Qadri on behalf of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. The officers presented a bouquet to the newly elected President, signaling the support and good wishes from the senior police leadership.
In addition to the formal greetings, Qadri provided a tour of the Pakistan Olympic Association’s facilities, sharing insights into the historical significance of various items, including shields, prizes, uniforms, and other antiques displayed in the gallery. Both visiting officers, Riaz Nazir Gara and Athar Ismail, commemorated their visit by adding their remarks to the visitor’s book, reflecting their engagement and support for the association’s mission under Qadri’s leadership.
Islamabad, The Islamabad Capital Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has carried out a comprehensive search and combing operation within the jurisdiction of the Industrial Area police station, as part of intensified security measures across the city, a public relations officer announced.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was executed following explicit instructions from the Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, aimed at bolstering the safety and security of the citizens of Islamabad. This directive has led to a series of search and combing operations in various sectors of the city.
The recent operation in the Industrial Area involved CTD alongside local police units inspecting 75 suspicious individuals, 12 houses, 20 shops, 35 motorcycles, and 15 vehicles. The operation led to the detention of two individuals and the seizure of five motorcycles lacking proper documentation, all of which were taken to the police station for further investigation.
Senior police officials emphasized that these operations are crucial for enhancing the security landscape of the federal capital. They have instructed all zonal officers to persist with these operations within their designated areas and urged the public to extend full cooperation during checks.
