ADB Mission Engages with Pakistan’s FBR on Tax Reforms and Digitalization

Islamabad, A mission from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to discuss progress and future plans under the Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) Program. The meeting included high-level discussions on tax reforms, digitalization of tax administration, and strengthening policy frameworks.

According to Press Information Department, the ADB delegation, led by Mr. Tariq Niazi from Manila, expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the DRM Program. The first subprogram of DRM, which has laid down foundational policies and institutional capacities, led to the disbursement of $300 million to Pakistan by the ADB in December 2023. The discussions also covered the ongoing transition of FBR towards a digital tax administration, reflecting global trends and aimed at enhancing the efficiency of tax collection and expanding the tax base.
