APHC concerned about Indian judiciary dillydallying tactics

Srinagar,
July 14, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat
Conference has expressed deep concern for dillydallying tactics of Indian
judiciary and administration regarding Kashmiri political prisoners presently
confined in different jails of Kashmir and outside.

The APHC
in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said people are jailed for more than
six months, and no judicial remedy or bail is possible. Justice for a common
citizen is beyond his reach. It said that the prisoners on one hand were kept
thousands of miles away from their home land and on the other hand they were
forced to face biased and communal jail staff.

The APHC
deplored that the judicial apathy and its deliberate slow pace had prolonged
the prisoners’ detention. The statement also condemned the summoning of
Kashmiri editors and owners of reputed media houses by Indian probe agencies
like National Investigation Agency.

It said
people whole heartedly supported them, suffered immensely for their political
gains and played a decisive role in shaping and building their political cult
without caring for themselves and their families, but the slaves of their own
interests never cared for their wishes, aspirations and their emotions and
stabbed them in their back to guarantee power and perks for not only
themselves, but for their coming generations as well.

It said
root cause of all ills is the forced occupation, which has eroded the psyche of
every individual, the essence of every institution and even our identity and
existence is threatened. The statement said that throttling and curbing the
media houses is part of the vast game plan by the fascist forces, using the
mask of so-called democracy to destroy every fabric of it and those thumbing
the chest to uphold the sanctity of fourth pillar of democracy are themselves
the architects of the undemocratic assault on media.

It said
that like every institution media people too have a strenuous and suffocating
environment to carry out their professional duties and they too had to face a
double edged sword from the last so many decades. It said how pathetic is that
after every unrealistic, undemocratic and unethical assault on the basic and
fundamental human rights, our highest bureaucracy is there to bail them out, by
their explanations.
