PCJCCI Advocates for Enhanced Solar Capacity Through Chinese Technological Advances

Lahore, On Thursday, the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) emphasized the importance of leveraging China’s solar power advancements to boost global solar capacity. During a think tank session at the PCJCCI Secretariat, Moazzam Ghurki, President of PCJCCI, highlighted China’s role in reducing production costs and enhancing the affordability of solar energy worldwide.

According to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ghurki pointed out the necessity for increased solar capacity to meet the global decarbonization targets. He noted that particularly in developing countries, there is a critical need for advanced solar technologies to make electricity more accessible and cost-effective. Ghurki also mentioned Pakistan’s potential to generate 40 gigawatts (GW) of solar power and its target to obtain 20% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

Fang Yulong, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, elaborated on China’s vital contribution to the stability of the global solar product supply, which is essential for combating climate change. He addressed the existing gap between China’s solar capacity and the global market demand, emphasizing the significant investment in solar projects in Pakistan in recent years.

Vice President of PCJCCI, Hamza Khalid, discussed China’s abundant resources and innovative technologies. He expressed anticipation for increased cooperation with Chinese authorities and companies to address the challenges of climate displacement. Khalid praised China’s role in reducing costs and promoting economic development through enhanced solar technology accessibility, especially for developing nations.

Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, remarked on Pakistan’s untapped solar energy capabilities despite the country’s abundant sunlight. He detailed the government’s initiatives to promote solar energy through favorable policies and highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) role in fostering solar energy cooperation between the two nations.
