Privatization Commission of Pakistan Extends Deadline for PIA Divestment, Reviews Future Plans

Islamabad, In its 218th meeting, the Privatization Commission of Pakistan, led by Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, extended the deadline for the submission of interest in the divestment of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL). The meeting also reviewed and approved the recommendations for the Privatization Programme for 2024-2029, reflecting a strategic push to optimize national assets.

According to Press Information Department, the session focused on updating the regulations to expedite the hiring of financial advisors, aiming to streamline the privatization process. The board also discussed new entries to the privatization list, including utility and financial entities, underlining the government’s intent to reduce the public sector’s footprint in the economy while ensuring strategic assets remain protected.
