APHC Denounces Arrest Campaign in Kashmir Ahead of Indian Elections

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced its objection to a series of raids, arrests, and crackdowns conducted by Indian forces across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), coinciding with the upcoming Lok Sabha election in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas described the recent actions, including the house raids and detention of numerous activists in the region, as extreme political retribution by Indian forces. This crackdown, he argued, aims to penalize Kashmiris for opposing India’s control over their territory.

Minhas highlighted instances of alleged harassment and victimization in various districts such as Srinagar, Baramulla, and Pulwama, among others, by Indian forces and investigative agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA). He asserted that these measures would not deter the Kashmiri population’s quest for freedom and reiterated calls for the release of detained political leaders and activists.

Furthermore, Minhas raised concerns over human rights violations, including the displacement of Kashmiris and the appropriation of their properties, creating a climate of intimidation across the region. He urged international human rights organizations to investigate the situation in IIOJK and help address the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis.
