Army concerned about joining militancy by educated youth

Srinagar, June 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): Day after the puppet Chief Minister of occupied Kashmir, Omar Abdullah expressed concern over educated Kashmiri boys joining the ranks of militants, the Indian Army also termed it a matter of concern.

Lt Gen Om Prakash, who left Kashmir after completing his tenure as General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, told media men: “It is a matter of concern that highly educated youth are seen joining militancy.”

General Om Prakash said the militants have changed their strategy and around 325 of them are active in Kashmir. “You have such a kind of militants who roam like a common man. They carry out attacks and again join the common people,” he said.

During the past few weeks some militants with engineering degrees were killed in various encounters in Pulwama district. Some of them were in their early 20s.
