Aurangzeb Stresses Urgent Action on Population and Climate Change for Economic Stability

Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has emphasized the need to address the two existential issues of population and climate change to ensure sustainable economic growth. Speaking at an event organized by the Ministry of National Health Services in connection with World Population Day, he called for a comprehensive approach to control population growth.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister stated that one-third of the funding from the ten-year Country Partnership Framework signed with the World Bank will be allocated to population-related measures. This significant allocation underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges posed by rapid population growth.

In his remarks on the occasion, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that population is part of the country’s five Es framework. He noted that the federal government will collaborate with provincial governments to address this pressing issue, indicating a coordinated effort across different levels of government.

Minister for National Health Services, Mustafa Kamal, drew attention to the burden that the rising population places on existing resources. He called for collective efforts to manage the situation, emphasizing the need for a united approach to tackle the challenges associated with rapid population growth and its impact on resources.
