Authorities grilled for molestation, HR abuses

Srinagar, February 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that the occupation authorities are involved in the molestation of women in addition to the violation of other basic rights of the people.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing Juma congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, demanded return of mortal remains of prominent Kashmiri martyrs, Muhammad Maqool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru to the Kashmiris.

Resolutions passed in various areas of the occupied territory said that India was promoting unethical and immoral activities in the territory under a premeditated plan to divert the people’s attention from their basic problems. The gatherings were addressed by Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Syed Bashir Andrabi and others.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a religious function at Sarai Bala in Srinagar, today, said that the Kashmir dispute was a living reality, and its settlement was imperative for peace and stability in South Asia.

The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani addressing over telephone a big gathering in Shopian from New Delhi said that India was continuing massacre of people of Kashmir. He urged people to boycott the upcoming farcical elections in the occupied territory. Meanwhile, police arrested Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi in Srinagar.

Indian troops subjected to severe torture several people including a photojournalist in Shopian town. The photojournalist, Sajjad Ahmad, was covering an anti-India protest demonstration against the killing of two youth by Indian troops in the Pinjora area of the district, when he was attacked and beaten up by the troops. Complete shutdown was observed for the second consecutive day, today, in Bandipora against the arrest of youth in the area.

Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Shabbir Ahmad Dar and others in their statements paid glowing tributes to Ghulam Muhammad Bulla on the eve of his martyrdom anniversary. Ghulam Muhammad Bulla was tortured to death in the Central Jail Srinagar on 15th of February in 1975 for protesting against the 1975 Indra-Abdullah Accord.

Other Hurriyet leaders, Javed Ahmad Mir, Firdous Ahmad Shah and Mir Shahid Saleem in their statements reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue liberation movement till its logical conclusion.
