BISP and GIZ Forge Partnership to Enhance Social Protection and Skills in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tribal Areas

Islamabad: A pivotal meeting between the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) has set the stage for enhanced social protection services, digital literacy, and skills development in the Newly Merged Tribal Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Press Information Department, Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of BISP, and Johanna Knoess, Head of Project, Adaptive Social Protection at GIZ, discussed the implementation of multiple initiatives aimed at increasing the accessibility of BISP services. The strategies include the use of Mobile Registration Vans to boost registration processes in remote areas, expansion of Dynamic Registry Centers for improved beneficiary management, and the promotion of digital and financial literacy among BISP beneficiaries. The partnership also plans to introduce a skill development program to financially empower the beneficiaries. Additionally, the meeting addressed the Hybrid Social Protection Scheme and a nutrition program targeted at adolescent girls.

The collaboration between BISP and GIZ emphasizes a mutual commitment to enhancing the welfare of vulnerable populations in Pakistan’s tribal regions, focusing on sustainable development and empowerment initiatives. The GIZ team confirmed its support and suggested further meetings to finalize the implementation details of the discussed projects.
