New Delhi, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under scrutiny for purportedly manipulating social media and electoral funds to influence voter behavior and gain an unfair advantage in the upcoming elections.
According to Kashmir Media Service, referencing a report from Al Jazeera, the BJP has been strategically amplifying its presence on social media through a specialized cell within the party, tasked with creating and spreading viral content. This effort is part of a broader accusation that the party manipulates information to bolster its electoral appeal.
The report draws attention to the synchronization of the BJP’s online campaign with the election timetable, hinting at a systematic approach to leveraging digital platforms. Concerns are also mounting over the party’s access to state resources and data, allegedly used to target voters through platforms like WhatsApp.
Adding to the controversy is the significant inflow of electoral bond funds to the BJP, which critics argue compromises the electoral process’s integrity and tilts the scale in favor of the ruling party.
