BJP Worker Detained with Rs 4 Crore Ahead of Tamil Nadu Elections

Chennai, In a significant operation, three individuals, including a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, were apprehended in Chennai for possessing Rs 4 crore in cash, stored in six bags. The detention occurred at the Tambaram railway station, triggering a probe just days before Tamil Nadu’s critical single-phase election.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the individuals detained were identified as Sathish, a BJP worker and hotel manager, his brother Naveen, and their driver Perumal. During the investigation, Sathish revealed that he was following directions from the team of a BJP MP candidate from Tirunelveli. The substantial amount of cash seized has been forwarded to the Income Tax Department for further examination, as authorities intensify scrutiny ahead of the electoral process in the state set for April 19.
