Body Retrieved from Jhelum River in Srinagar

Srinagar: The body of a non-local man was retrieved from the Jhelum River near the Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The incident has prompted a police investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an official reported that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted the retrieval operation. After recovering the body, the SDRF handed it over to local police, who are now working on identifying the deceased and proceeding with necessary legal formalities.

The police have officially taken cognizance of the matter, indicating that further investigations are likely to follow to ascertain the cause of the incident and any possible foul play.
