BSF Kills Bangladeshi National in Chapainawabganj, Marks Fifth Death in 16 Days

Dhaka, In a tragic escalation of border tensions, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has killed another Bangladeshi citizen, Saiful Islam, aged 30, and wounded Raju Islam, 25, in the Chapainawabganj border area. This recent shooting contributes to a disturbing trend, marking the fifth such fatality attributed to BSF actions along the border within the past sixteen days.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased, Saiful Islam, hailed from Nagarpara village in the Gomastapur region of Chapainawabganj. The incident occurred late Monday night when he and a group ventured near the border to retrieve cows, resulting in only his bullet-ridden body being returned to Bangladesh early Wednesday, as recounted by his brother, Robiul Islam.

The wounded individual, Raju Islam, is presently under medical care at a local hospital. Matiur Rahman, the chairman of Radhanagar union parishad, confirmed his hospitalization due to the BSF shooting.

Brigadier General FM Shamim Ahammad, the director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, reported that Raju Islam was admitted with injuries from bullet wounds incurred during the incident in the Chapainawabganj border area.

This series of fatal shootings began with the death of Murali Chandra, aged 42, last Saturday, followed closely by the killings of two young Bangladeshi nationals, Liton Mia, 20, and Al-Amin, 32, on March 26 in separate incidents along the borders in Lalmonirhat and Naogaon. Additionally, on March 17, a Bangladeshi teenager lost his life, and another was injured in Moulvibazar village due to BSF fire.
