CDWP Approves Rs. 187 Billion in Development Projects, Refers Major Initiatives to ECNEC

Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved 12 development projects with a total worth of Rs. 187 billion. Six of these projects, valued at Rs. 19 billion, were approved by the CDWP itself, while the remaining six projects, amounting to Rs. 168 billion, have been recommended for further consideration by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The approved projects span sectors such as health, industries, physical planning, housing, transport, communications, and water resources.

According to Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, the meeting was chaired by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and was attended by key government officials, including the Secretary of Planning Awais Manzur Sumra, and heads of provincial and federal ministries. Among the approved projects were the “Establishment of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur AJ and K” and the “Greater Water Supply Scheme for Central Hunza from Attabad Lake.”

Several significant projects, such as the “Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) Phase-I” and “Inter-Regional Connectivity Between Baltistan Division and Diamer Astore Division,” were recommended to ECNEC for final approval. These projects focus on infrastructure improvement, economic development, and the rehabilitation of areas affected by recent floods.
