Chief Secretary Sindh reviews security arrangements for Muharam ul Haram

Karachi, September 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Major (R) Azam Suleman khan has asked the administrative Secretaries and Commissioner , Deputy Commissioners to ensure the task of peace and harmony during Muharam ul Haram, in view of the sanctity of this great month. He emphasized that co-ordinated efforts must be taken in collaboration with the concerned departments and law enforcing Agencies( LEAs).

He was addressing a video conference in Sindh Secretariat on Saturday, which was attended by IGP SINDH , Amjad Javed Saleemi, Additional Chief Secretary Home Captain (R) Abdul Kabeer Qazi , Additional Chief Secretary Health Dr. M.Usman Chachar and other Civil and Police officers with video link to the Commissioners and DIG , Deputy Commissioners and SSPs all Divisions and Districts in Sindh. The Chief Secretary instructed that the code of conduct of the peace and harmony of the Sacred month must be followed , as well, he has “ BAN on pillion riding” and “ use of Loud-Speaker_ must be ensured under _144.”

The Chief Secretary maintained that the Divisional and District Intelligence Committees should actively play their vital role to maintain peace and harmony during Moharram –ul- Haram, while he noted that , in consultation with the organizers of Majalis and procession might be dispersed slash concluded before sunset. He also advised that organizers should also be informed about ban on the Anti – Harmony. Speeches , so that they could arrange alternative measures. Major (R) Azam Suleman khan also pointed out that mobility of visitors to the Holy places and shrines must be monitored carefully in order to taking reasonable arrangements to ensure that no mis-happening could take place.

The Chief Secretary advised the Secretary Home and Commissioner Karachi to remain in touch with K-Electric for sustaining Power Supply in connection with Muharram’s Majalis and processions. He advised the Secretaries of Health and local government, to ensure functioning of their institutional services during the Muharam –ul- Haram. The Hospitals and dispensaries should be fully equipped with all type of fundamental facilities including Staff and medicine, and Ambulance services, he added. the Chief Secretary asked the Secretary local government department to take strategy arrangements for water supply , Sewerage and cleanliness / sanitation comprehensively.

Earlier IGP Sindh, Secretaries of Health, L.G and Home briefed about the departmental arrangements. ACS Health informed leave have been cancelled and staff has been ordered to perform duty normally. The Commissioners and DIGs / SSPs also briefed the arrangements, in all Divisions and Districts to this effect.

Concluding the Conference Major (R) Azam Suleman categorically noted that no violation the code of conduct will be neglected, thus he emphasized that the needful should be done , devotedly and zealously.
