Chief Secretary stresses coordinated efforts during coming monsoon

Karachi, May 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Siddique Memon has expressed concern over non provision of water through R.O plants installed at Keamari and Lyari areas, few years ago. He called a report over the issue from Secretary Local Government within a week and asked immediate restoration thereof.

He was presiding a high level meeting in his office, which reviewed the Installation of Biometric Verification System and family tree at operation establishment of Karachi Police; Reverse Osmesis (RO) Plant and Indus River Commission. DIG CIA Sultan Khawaja, Secretary Local Government Imran Atta Soomro and Secretary Irrigation Zaheer Shah briefed respectively over the assignments under reference.

DIG CIA pointed out that work on Biometric system is being carried out in association with NADRA, under which criminals from all over Karachi documented alongwith Finger Prints, Photograph and personal and crime history at the Criminal Record Office (CRO) of CIA. The CRO was established in 1960, it was initially attached with finger points branch in CPO (Central Police Office), however since July 2007, with the inception of Police Reforms, it is functioning in CIA-Sindh Police, Karachi. The Criminal Data, Licences (Traffic and Arms) alongwith traffic violation and violation of law.

The Biometric System is to be launched in June 2015, which is to be introduced and enforced throughout the province. The Arms and Ammunition Shops, Police Station, Hotels, Guest Houses and other places, while it was suggested in the meeting that entry and exit points of the province should also be covered.

Secretary Implementation S.T.M. Jaffery would connect all the concerned departments, in respect of the biometric system. Chief Secretary assured that every possible assistance would be accorded for installation and completion of Biometric System.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Siddique Memon advised the Local Government Department to ensure the provision of potable water, all over the province. He categorically noted that R.O. (Reverse Osmosis) plants must be activated, as well water plants in Keamari and Lyari should immediate be reactivated, and this scheme should also be extended. He asked the Finance Department to facilitate the R.O. plants scheme, however, he emphasized that transparency be adopted to this effect.

Secretary Irrigation Zahoor Shah briefed various schemes of his department, including providing stones apron, stone pitching and earth work along Moria Loop Band in Northern Dadu Division Larkana and Larkana-Sehwan Bund. He assured that all preparations are being made to overcome the apprehensions of Mon-soon 2015.

Siddique Memon stressed the need of coordinated efforts, specifically amongst the departments of Irrigation, Energy, Finance and Implementation and Coordination. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Special Initiative department Ejaz A. Khan, Secretary Energy Agha Wasif, Secretary Planning Shereen Narijo and Secretary Implementation S.T.M. Jaffery.
