Scheme for un-interrupted power supply to the industries shows sincerity of the government for the economic revival

Karachi, May 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): The scheme for un-interrupted power supply to industrial sector of the country in the next coming budget is showing sincerity of the government for the economic revival of Pakistan, this was stated by Mian Idrees, President FPCCI while expressing his views on the news about un-interrupted supply of electricity to the industrial consumers.

He further stated that currently our industrial sector is working much below then the installed capacity due to heavy load shading which is in broader spectrum caused low productivity, un-employment, decrease in exports and ultimately the economic growth has been hampered due to energy crisis.

Mian Idrees applauded the efforts of the government to bring out the country from economic crisis zone and said that the government on its part provide un-interrupted power supply to the business community, improve the law and order situation, provide level playing field to flourish the trade and business activities; the business community would be bound to show their performance to run the industries with 100% capacity, increase their production and exports and create employment opportunities.

The President FPCCI drew the attention of the government towards the fact that the un-interrupted power supply should be ensured to the industries on normal tariff so that the improvement in other economic indicators like inflation, rate of interest, GDP growth rate etc. cannot be affected.

The price of electricity in industrial sector must be competitive to enable them to compete in the international market. He further said that in the international market our competitors are enjoying substantial subsidies of their governments due to which we are unable to compete with them in price of products.
