Clarification Issued on INGO Registration Process in Pakistan

Islamabad: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued amendments clarifying the registration process for International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) in Pakistan, stressing that these organizations are not required to register with SECP but solely with the Ministry of Interior.

According to Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the amendments in the Companies Regulations 2024, through SRO 1221(I)/2024, were introduced to specify that the Ministry of Interior retains exclusive authority over the registration, monitoring, and operations of INGOs in Pakistan. These changes aim to streamline regulatory processes and safeguard public interest by clearly defining the oversight responsibilities.
